On Wednesday, Surrey Police confirmed that 23-year-old Emiliano Krosi of Southend-on-Sea had been charged with 33 offences of conspiracy to commit burglary.

A spokesperson for the force said Krosi was remanded in custody and that he would appear at Guildford Crown Court on 21 September.

Sterling missed England’s 3-0 Last 16 win over Senegal after flying home from Qatar, but re-joined the squad in time for the Three Lions’ quarter-final clash with France.

Though because he’d missed several days of training, he started the match on the bench, despite starting two of England’s three group matches.

In an interview back in April, Sterling opened about on the mental torment he suffered as a result of the break-in, insisted that he “beat himself up” over it.

‘’I beat myself up that I didn’t keep my family secure,” Sterling told the Sun. “It’s one thing I said I would always do, so it wasn’t a nice feeling. I couldn’t live with myself if anything had come to pass from it.

“It was something I meant to do before going to the World Cup and I didn’t so I was beating myself up about it. It’s the most scary thing to know with the age of the people living in my house. It’s not a nice feeling.”

Sterling has started the 2023/24 season in flying form, netting two goals and registering one assist on Chelsea’s first three matches.
