TOTTENHAM ACCEPT OFFER FOR £63M MAN WHO LEFT POSTECOGLOU ‘UNIMPRESSED’

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to send Premier League misfit Tanguy Ndombele back to Italy after accepting a loan bid from Genoa for the former Napoli man. 

That is according to Gianluca di marzio source about as reliable as they come when matters of Italian football are considered.

Marzio reports, via his official website, that Genoa have ‘reached an agreement’ with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Tanguy Ndombele on loan for the 2023/24 season. Now, there is still some work to do, and some hoops to jump through.

Ndombele himself has not yet given his green light to the move. Genoa have even lined up alternatives in case they cannot convince their top target to put pen to paper. But with the Ligurian outfit willing to travel to London in order to hold face-to-face talks with Ndombele himself, that personal touch could go a long way to convince a player who could do with feeling the love again after a couples of year of cold shoulder .

Ndombele joined Tottenham for a club-record £63 million back in 2019. Barring the odd glimpse of genius, however, the former Lyon talisman has underwhelmed for the most part, moments of sumptuous quality like those stunning goals against Aston Villa and Sheffield United very much the exception rather than the rule.

Ndombele was part of the Napoli side which stormed to the Scudetto in 2022/23. He only started eight Serie A games under Luciano Spalletti, however.

“Ndombele (has been) a disappointment,” former Newcastle and Crystal Palace midfielder Darren Ambrose tells Sky Sports, summing up the feelings of his fellow Tottenham supporters about a player who promised so much but delivered less than Postman Pat with a nasty hangover.
